I’ve moved this book four times myself. I have been thinking about cutting it up and making art from the pages, but before I do that, I think that I should read it in its entirety. It was probably 1982 when I took it home from my school; so by then, it was really old and dated. The cover is pretty faded, but you can see well the radio tower, low mountains, forest, river and the boy on his painted pony accompanied by a sheltie. The cover could be depicting my home state of Colorado, but I suppose that it could be West Virginia. I note that there are cars and also an airplane which are prominent–as well as a European American boy. I initially wondered if the text would champion machines as progress and have a white-only story.
